This is what we worked on today.

Reflection 1/21/22

Today in Mr. Rease’s class we analyzed movie scenes for rhetorical devices. I did not recognize most of the movies. They all looked like they were good though. I will probably watch a few of them. This lesson was a good representation of how rhetorical devices are used in speech. I really enjoyed the lesson today.

Reflection 1/18/22

Today in Mr. Rease’s class we learned about metaphors and analogies. We have 33 rhetorical devices we have to go over and we have done 11 so far. So it might take about 3 or 4 weeks to complete the whole book of notes. I did not really learn anything knew, since analogies and metaphors are very common rhetorical devices. I wonder what other devices we will learn about in the following weeks. I have probably used many if not all of the ones in the book, even without me knowing what it was.

Reflection 1/14/22

Today in Mr. Rease’s class we took a quiz on rhetorical devices. Most, if not all of the class did pretty well. I had 14 out of 16 correct. After we took the test, we learned a few more rhetorical devices. We learned about Distinctio ( a rhetorical form in which the writer elaborates on the definition of a word, to make sure there is no misunderstanding) and simile. I did not think we needed to go over simile, but I actually learned new things about it. I learned that you can also use so and than in similes. That is what we did in class today and we have a 3 day weekend.

Reflection 1/10/22

Today in Mr. Rease’s class we learned about rhetorical devices. There were some devices I had never heard of. The class was easy. However we did not finish, since we had to stay on antithesis a bit longer than the other words. Antithesis might be the least used rhetorical device out of all the ones we learned. Though, it seems popular in quotes. We will likely continue learning about rhetorical devices tomorrow.
